3. As I Am Hydration Elation Intensive Conditioner
This product is thick and delivers great results by revitalizing hair while boosting moisture. If you have low porosity hair you will need to leave it on for at least 30 minutes under a steam cap or do 15 minutes under a hooded dryer* to maximize efficacy. Heat helps infuse moisture into low porosity hair strands.
The third ingredient in this is coconut oil, which behaves a little like a protein in that it has the ability to penetrate the hair shaft but for that, you will find that it also helps reduce further protein loss which makes it well worth it in my book.
4. TGIN Honey Miracle Hair Mask
This is meant to revive your strands and restore moisture and shine. Fortified with raw honey, olive oil, and jojoba oil, this conditioning hair mask helps moisture penetrate the strands deeply while nourishing them with vitamins A, E, and D.
The honey acting as a humectant helps calm frizz and the consistency of the product makes it distribute easily without simply coating and weighing down the strands. It does have dimethicone in it so if you use it a lot you will need to use a clarifying shampoo* to get that off, but otherwise, it’s an awesome product.
5. Shea Moisture Daily Hydrating Conditioner
The Shea Moisture* brand has developed such a reputation as one that is committed to catering to afro-textured hair and curly hair that it has become synonymous with quality. This product promises to hydrate and repair your strands with a formulation of coconut milk and shea butter.
It’s gentle enough to use daily to keep your strands quenched. If you prefer products that have a mild scent this might be a deal-breaker since it has a pretty strong scent. If this is not a hindrance to you, by all means, give this product a try.
6. Cantu Shea Butter for Natural Hair Hydrating Cream Conditioner
This is a moisturizing conditioner* and helps to stop breakage by helping to repair damage along the shaft and is specially formulated for color-treated hair. If you are looking for a product that helps give your hair volume without weighing it down, this is it. This coconut and shea butter infused conditioner is sulfate-free so it is gentle enough for daily use.
7. Maui Moisture Heal & Hydrate Plus Shea Butter Conditioner
This little conditioner packs a punch while being all-natural and paraben-free. Its restorative properties from aloe vera juice*, coconut, shea butter, and macadamia nut just to name a few, provide a balance between gentle protein and moisture.
It is versatile as it can be used as a rinse-out or deep conditioner* and you can even put some in a spray bottle with water and use it to wake those curls up when they start to look a bit flat.
8. Jessicurl Deep Conditioning Treatment
It smells light and pleasant and is great for dry, thick, coarse hair. If you have tried everything and nothing seems to work, this one is definitely worth a go. The botanical infusion of peppermint, aloe, shea butter, cocoa butter*, sage, avocado, and rosemary is designed to deliver the perfect combination for treating dry brittle hair. In addition to providing mega moisture, it also gives your hair great shine too.
Final Thoughts
There you have it, you now have a list of protein free or low protein conditioners at your disposal and you can now enjoy moisture filled wash days without a brittle strand of hair in sight.

Great list. I had heard of a few of these before but I thought all VO5 & Suave conditioners had protein. Good news for me although I’ll probably go with the Aubrey organics. The Aussie sounds great too but I’m not sure if it has cones.
