Cones is the shorted form of the word Silicones. They are compounds added to some conditioning and styling products which aid in enhancing shine, flexibility, protect against heat damage and seal the cuticle layer of the hair. Since silicones form a water resistant barrier over the hair, many on their hair journey discontinue their use because it is believed that harmful products must be used to rid hair of them and if they are allowed to build –up, they block moisture from getting into the strands.
