Willow Smith is known for her unique style, she has switched it up a number of times and is not afraid to push the envelope when it comes to colors or hair cuts.
We have seen Willow recently sporting her newest hairstyle, faux locs, which we have to admit looks pretty nice on her. Willow is almost 14 now, and critics have been very open about what they think of Will and Jada’s parenting style in terms of allowing Willow to be free to make her own style choices.
Personally if I am ever blessed with a daughter I think I will have some flexibility but she won’t be entirely free to just “do what she wants”, it will definitely be a joint effort at 14 years old. When Jada responded to critics this is what she had to say:
“The question why I would LET Willow cut her hair, first the LET must be challenged,” Pinkett Smith wrote on Facebook.“This is a world where women, girls are constantly reminded that they don’t belong to themselves; that their bodies are not their own, nor their power or self determination.
I made a promise to endow my little girl with the power to always know that her body, spirit and her mind are HER domain.
Either way it is all just a matter of opinion, it is difficult to compare children in the public eye to our own kids, and further more criticize them for their decisions.
Obviously there are a lot of things that might influence parenting decisions including experiences, the way parents were raised, culture, and the list goes on and on. With that said we can only respect other parenting styles and if for any reason we disagree that’s ok too.

I’m going with the confused verdict. Luckily, we are living in a hair revolution, where she can be locked this month, braided next month, and kool-aid fruit punch the month after that. Jada is going through some hair revolutions at this time, also. When I was 16, I had the choice of curly Afro or a part on the side. That was the limit to hair creativity in my Parents’ house!
There used to be a time when hair pieces were straight and now we can accentuate, our vast array of hair beautiful styles. I love it! Hair can be an accessory, especially for those who see their face as a palette
