Introduce yourself and which salon if any you work at…

My name is Tomekia Mccoy and im a licensed stylist at Studio 4 Hair where international stylist glambymikemike and glambybabyboy of Detroit are the Owners.

How long have you worked as a licensed cosmetologist (or equivalent in your country) and where did you study?

I have been a licensed stylist for 20 years…I’m a second generation stylist, I studied under my mother who is also a licensed stylist for 8 years before getting my master cosmetology license.

What is your specialty, relaxed, natural hair, locs or anything special?

My most favorite thing to do is cutting, I love texture cutting, I love edgy hair. I specialize in short hair, but I also love doing commercial installs whether there glued in or sew ins…Healthy hair is something that I’m very passionate about as well.

What in your opinion is the most rewarding thing about working as a hair stylist?

The most rewarding thing is working with women who come in and think there’s no hope at all for them, and give them a look that gives them a whole new outlook on themselves as a woman.

To see women come in embarrassed about there hair and leave with so much confidence about themselves, that is what makes me happ, making women beautiful.

When you meet that customer that has not had a great experience with a previous stylist, how do you make them comfortable while in your chair?

I give them confidence about me, I listen to there unfortunate situation and reassure them that I will cater to them and be honest about all questions and concerns they have.

If you could change one thing about the cosmetology industry what would that be?

I would make it mandatory in all states that stylists take on hands on educational classes.

Where do you see yourself a few years from now, what are your goals as a stylist?

I see myself as being an international stylist, doing and giving hands on classes about things I have learned over the years.

How do you stay motivated and on top of your game?

I constantly watch videos, take classes, and read books on prosperity.

Im a passionate stylist who sincerely loves women and the beauty we posses…I feel regardless of your size, ethnic hair type we are all beautiful in our own special way…I love hair and I love making it beautiful, I’m very humble and I feel confidence, knowledge, humbleness and Faith in God will always get you to that place called destiny.
