I decided that this morning I would bring you some magic, specifically deadlock magic courtesy of Kris Mcdred who shared a video where he created dreadlocks from loose natural hair instantly.
When we say instantly we mean immediately, from the moment he started twisting his client’s hair until the moment he was done.
Kris McDred is a stylist from Dubai and his discovery may have changed the game for locs and the way we do them in the future. Consider not having to wait for months and months for your locs to form, you can have what you desire right then and there.
All Kris used to create the locs is a rat tail comb*, a crochet hook and some molding gel. He uses the gel and comb to section and twist portions of the hair based on his clients desired loc size. He then uses his crochet hook to interlock the strands in the sections so that you get instant locs. The way he does it allows for versatility of styling and your locs can move freely.
To be honest, I watched the entire video and I could not tell you what exactly he does when he begins to crochet, we can use logic but we cannot actually see what the hair is doing which is why I call it magic.
He mentions not using a ton of product to do the locs which is a plus for many of us who might think we need a lot of gel to get the locs to stay in place.
He also mentions that even though he is creating the loc instantly it does take a while for your loc sections to mature, but the look of the dread loc is instant.
The technique is quite fascinating and I would be kinda curious to watch it on longer hair, I would think it would be harder but only Kris could answer that one.
Check out the video below and then leave a comment with your thoughts!

This makes them at least neater. I’m not a fan, but if they are neat they would look better to me.
