2. Ice Cream Bun for Long Locs
Source: Chescalocs aka Franchesca Ramsey
I just love the name of this bun : The Ice Cream Bun. I see many long loc’d ladies that want to switch it up from their usual high bun. This bun is very classy, fun, and gorgeous. The gorgeousness of this bun is enough to make you melt pun was most definitely intended!
Products Used to Achieve This Style
Large Stretchy Headband*- Large Stretchy Headband* (the thin kind used for puffs) to create the ponytail base for this style.
Hair Elastics- Hair Elastics are used to keep the large rope twists together. You would need about two of them.
Hair Length Needed to Achieve This Style
The hairstyle is great for those with brastrap length locs and longer. Since this style calls for long chunky rope twists, it will be kind of hard to recreate this style on shorter hair. Loose haired naturals can also achieve this style via twists, braids, or faux locs.
How to Achieve This Hairstyle
To achieve this style, first create a side ponytail and split into two sections. With the two sections, create a large twist with each section. Take the two twists and swoop them on to the side. It can be the left or right side, whichever side works for you. Then take the sections and in them on the same side, in a semi swirl manner, one on top of the other. Voila! The Ice Cream Bun!
3. Loc Bow
Source: DXLYN
Okay, so I think that this bun is one of the cutest buns evah! It is a fun and cute bun that everyone can rock. Even though I would not wear this type of bun to a”corporate” job, I believe that it would be an awesome bun for parties and hanging out.
Products Used to Achieve This Style
Elastic Bands– An elastic band is used to create the ponytail base for the bow bun.
Rubber Bands– Rubber bands are used to hold together the bow sections.
Bobby Pins*– Bobby Pins* are used for pinning up any stray locs and helping the bun look more uniformed.
Hair Length Needed to Achieve This Style
The hairstyle is great for those with medium length locs and longer. Loose naturals can also achieve this style when rocking braids and twists or even faux locs!
How to Create This Hairstyle
To create this hairstyle, you would first take a handful of locs from the front section of your hair and braid them halfway. Next, put an elastic at the end of the braided section to hold the braid in place and to keep it from unloosening.
You would then take the remainder of the locs that are loose and then put them in a high side ponytail. Split the ponytail in half. Remember the section that you braded earlier? Take that section, lay it over the middle of the split ponytail and tuck it and pin it on the back of the ponytail base. Then take the other two sections and tuck the ends of each side under the base of the ponytail to create a bow shape. That’s it! Super quick, and super simple!
