Cowashing has become the new buzzword in natural hair care in the last few years. If you don’t know what it is, cowashing is simply washing your hair with a conditioner leaving out the shampoo step altogether. The idea is that skipping shampoo in lieu of conditioner prevents your hair from getting dry and tangled leading to much faster and easier wash days.
With that in mind, here are my top 8 cowash* conditioners for under $10.
Scent – Mild fragrance reminiscent of coconuts.
What it does – Joico K-pak is one of the few conditioners I know that uses actual hydrolyzed human hair keratin. Most other conditioners will use hydrolyzed keratin which is usually derived from sheep’s wool so that makes this a very good quality conditioner. It not only moisturizes but it adds strength to your strands so it can double up as a deep conditioner. If you co-wash often you may want to alternate with another more more moisturizing conditioner* to avoid protein overload.
