Cynthia Bailey Takes A Break From Her Weaves And Shows Off Her Real Hair On Instagram

Ever wonder what the big deal was about celebs taking ‘real hair’ selfies? Well in my opinion it is sort of a catch 22 for the celeb because on one hand you get a ton of likes and interest because most people are so used to seeing the enhancements its almost a breath of fresh air to see the real deal.

Then on the other hand you kind of question if people prefer the ‘real you’ over the ‘enhanced you’. Maybe thats a bit too deep for this post but that is what I thought about when I saw Cynthia Baileys latest ‘real hair selfie’.

According to her post, Cynthia is taking a much needed weave break and she is opting for wigs instead. God forbid her real hair should ever make an appearance other than the one picture she posted on the gram. Her caption:

Taking a much needed weave break! I try to do this every 3 months but I am usually too busy working & traveling to commit. This is what my hair looks like right now.

As you can see it is growing but my leave out (WHICH IS DYED BLOND TO BLEND IN WITH MY BLOND EXTENSIONS) & edges are a little stressed damaged. I just washed, conditioned & put it in 2 ponytails. AirDry not blow dry!

I love changing my hair up and weaves and wigs are the quickest ways to get different looks. However, I always want to make sure my natural hair is strong and healthy.

I highly suggest taking a weave break ladies! Even if it’s only for a couple of weeks. I’m going to try to do 2 months. Found some great wigs for work that I can take off at night to get me thru?Just wanted to share? The hair struggle is real?#hairqueen #hairfinity

What do you think about Cynthia’s real hair selfie?

Looks relaxed. Not natural. But good for her.

Kimberly Copeland

My hair looks similar to that when I take my weave out and I haven’t had a relaxer in 7 years.

China Rebel Jones

I don’t think Cynthia meant real hair as in natural I think it’s real hair as in no extensions nothing.

Roberta Hosey

Yes. I didn’t mean to offend anyone. I’m on a natural hair journey and my hair is getting back thicker, so that’s my goal. Healthy and thickness. Not so much as length❤️

Yazmyne Bright

If that’s relaxed she needs to get her money back lol

Janet Hale

Yeah, you can see the new growth in her part…

ShiShi Maze

who is Cynthia Bailey? hair looks normal enough, any pics of her edges?

Dimitria Lee

Super model and reality star

Dimitria Lee

It’s damaged and thin.

Barbar Wicker

That’s good but really thin

Rel Robin

These weave/wig wearers should have hair under there after years and years of the “protective styling.” The only folks that wore all this stuff back in the day were cancer patients. Weaves/wigs are like an accessory today.

Dimitria Lee

They forget to take care of their hair between styles

Dimitria Lee

I swear I am the same way!!!

Latoya Aaliyah Small

I only use braid extensions as my protection occasionally. Not everyone has long hair under the wigs because they don’t properly take care of their own hair while wearing these wigs or extensions. I think women wear them so much they forget their own hair. This lady hair is very unhealthy and thin. Length means nothing If it’s not healthy It’ll eventually break off and keep thinning out. I been natural pretty much my whole life and my hair is close to tailbone length and very thick I wear it straight or curly

Dimitria Lee

Right. I wear braids a lot but I take care of my real hair. At least two months I will let my real hair breathe and wear natural styles. My braids I will rock 2-3 months. I have a sew in now, will have this up til December (got it done October 20) . I think they just really forget they have real hair underneath Lol.

Yazmyne Bright

She didn’t show them edges though lol

Jackie CJ Carter

Why do people go ballistic when someone shows that they have hair underneath a wig or weave??? jeesh

LaMonica Hall

Everyone that wears weaves aren’t bald. It’s a protective style.

Fine Brown Frame

To those who assume. .thin hair is not an indicator of unhealthy hair..just as thick hair is not necessarily healthy. .I choose not to wear weaves, or have anything negative to say about those that do..

Aaron Michael

Weaves and wigs date back to ANCIENT EGYPT lol they aren’t going anywhere and can serve as a great protective method if done correctly. Entertainers wear the big hair like a hat. Get over it

Tahon A. Clark

Who the F cares???? Why do so many people that are non factors to the one that they are worried about always hating. Let people be who they are, and do them. Bloop!

Vedejah Scroggins

I mean it’s just me personally but if you’re going to keep your hair in a weave for what 9 months out of a year and those other 3 you’re going to put a wig on top why care what your real hair looks like why care if you have edges lol I know I sound ugly but it’s true why care why take hair vitamins why take a break that really isn’t a break technically y’all say it’s protective styling but why protect something that has so little value that you never use it to me it makes no difference if you have long hair and never wear it your own hair can be just as versatile as a weave or wig if you take care of it your hair shouldn’t be in a protective style 24/7 365 days per year

Khrystal Bianca

Time to just start over…..

Kenyetta Neal

It’s thin. Time to lay off the weave for a minute. Nothing wrong with wearing it but not so much

Kenyetta Neal

Who said it was damaged or unhealthy ?

Melissa Jones

Instead of u all judging how about u take out your weave

Whitney Boyce

You all know thin hair is a thing right? No matter how healthy. It says she’s showing her real hair. Said nothing about it not being relaxed……

AshleyRebecca Belle

hate the relaxed vs natural. , natural vs. wig/weave wearers ehh get over it already focus on your own hair

Vicki Campbell

Why does it matter ? Showing for what ?

KeKe Roberts

Uhmmm ok… why is this a big deal?

Tia Mitchum

Looks 20times better.

Joi Davis

What’s not her

Tbh I really don’t care. Plus I protective style with my real hair so I’m not into that.

Joy Gordon

Thin doesn’t mean damaged just as thick doesn’t mean healthy. Smh learn something

Bibiana Casey

I don’t think I even know who she is.
