3. A Hair Steamer – We aren’t partial to brands here because there are some great ones on the market, but if you like brands then Huetiful is your guy otherwise the more reasonably priced Secura Steamer will be great too.
This gift says things like: ‘ I see you trying to keep your hair healthy boo, so I wanted to help”, “Let me help you with your moisture, because I love you”, “You look so beautiful with that plastic helmet on your head”.
You know, all the things a natural girl loves to hear. A hair steamer can be considered a luxury item because there are many ways to get your hair steamed without the fancy shmancy contraption, so imagine her surprise when you decide to buy her a fancy shmancy contraption. You cannot go wrong with a steamer!
We paired the T-shirt and earrings because it works. Nobody wants just a T-shirt or just a pair of earrings right? Ok not right, but it works, it’s kind of like: “You got me the best T-shirt ever” and then you say, “Did you see the earrings?” and then she says “Are you kidding there is more?” Take a bow my friend, you have just been crowned the best gifter ever!
5. Books for her Daughter – Sounds weird, but trust us when we say if you buy her daughter something uplifting she will love you for life. It takes a village to raise a child and you probably won’t have to get her anything after she sees the lineup you just bought her little girl.
Might we suggest: I love my Cotton Candy Hair by Nicole Updegraff, I love My Hair by Natasha Anastasia Tarpley, Dancing in the Wings by Debbie Allen, and Something Beautiful by Sharon Dennis Wyeth. Those are only suggestions but there are a ton of books out there geared towards natural hair and self-esteem that are fun; some dealing with serious issues, others just great for quiet time.
Now for someone a little older then The Science of Black hair: A comprehensive Guide to Textured Hair Care by Audrey Davis-Sivasothy is excellent and everyone should have a copy.
