Many of you are still transitioning or considering the transition process and we are sure it helps to see what a typical wash day routine would look like before you start your journey.
This post will feature a video showing just that. YouTuber Journey to Waistlength has been transitioning for 19 months and while for some of us that might seem long, it isn’t because we have seen transitions for up to 2 years or more.
When you are just starting out one of the things you will wonder is if this is really how things will look for you in a practical sense.
It is all well and good to hear what you can do in your regimen but if you can watch it happen, it gives you a whole new perspective. Of course at the end of the day you have to do what is best for you, but this can help!
One of the best advice points we can make to you when transitioning is to develop a regimen that you will continue to use after your are fully natural and your transition is over.
It makes things easier for you after you big chop because you already know how to care for your natural hair after the relaxed ends are cut off.
Why would someone transition long term?
To be quite honest it really is just a matter of preference. Some women just prefer not to big chop because they do not like what short hair looks like or they want a bit of a head start in their natural journey with some length.
How to treat your relaxed ends
When transitioning long term, we think perm rods(affiliate link) are a great investment because you can curl your ends and blend them well with your natural hair. Perm rods(affiliate link) allow you to get super tight curls that can mimic your natural hair.
In the video you will notice that she uses perm rods(affiliate link) at the end of her braids for a super fab braid out and you might continue to do just that even after you cut your ends.
Watch the video and see what tips you can gather for your own wash day as you transition:
