The beach is the most magical place on earth for me, forget Disney World give me the waves, the sun, the sun kissed skin and the relaxation. I am from an island so when I am away for too long I miss the island life and a big part of it is enjoying the ocean and everything in and around it. This is the season where we all want to go on vacation and have some fun in the sun.
Knowing what to do with your natural hair while on the beach or at the pool is very important because you want to protect your hair from the elements including the sun, salt and chlorine. The key to great vacation hair, is not worrying about it, literally setting it and forgetting it.
We have two videos of women who show you how to deal with your natural hair while at the beach and pool. Before you watch though we have a 4 suggestions on how to maintain your hair while at the beach:
1. Load up on the conditioner – before you head to the beach literally coat your strands with your most moisturizing conditioner. If you are travelling, pack the conditioner that you like but choose one that can double as a leave in as well that way you aren’t packing too much product.
2. Bring and wear a hat – You know those wide brim hats that only look great on a sunny day? Yup that one, bring it,wear it, and protect your hair from harsh UV rays that can damage your strands.
3. Style practical – Styling your hair during the day should be easy, because you want something you do not have to think about while you are enjoying your time outside. Twists pinned up in a nice up do, or a bun are all style options that protect your ends and keeps your hair off your mind.
4. Wash immediately – At the end of the day, rinse your hair of all product and salt making sure to add more conditioner to your hair for moisture. If you are on a vacation lasting more than one day, prepare to do this daily.
Ok now about the videos here is Risskat Bade as she demonstrates how she handles her natural hair at the beach:
