I have seen some black women with long hair , my grandmom, my mother in law had long hair. My own daughter have hair down her back. I hope she don’t mind me saying this , but check out the young lady that sing Muzic Septymber Fifteenth , long beautiful hair. No extension.
My late grandmother mentioned that her hair was very long. My mother’s side had a lot of Indian in it. Long hair in black women may not have been that uncommon in that era.
I mentioned my mother’s side of the family which is not a myth for me. Haven’t done overall research to indicate that for others. You can’t say there’s that 1% then agree it’s a myth. Both can’t be right.
This article in the link posted above states, “While most African-Americans would likely say they have Indian blood flowing in their veins, DNA testing suggests that fewer than 10 percent of black people are of Native American ancestry. To be exact, 5 percent of African-Americans have at least 12.5 percent Native American ancestry, meaning at least one great-grand parent. In contrast, 58 percent of black Americans have at least 12.5 percent white ancestry.” So, while most of us are not of Native American descent, some of us are. Therefore, it is not a myth.
There was a lot of blacks mixed with Indian . But there also black women and men that can grow long hair. Ling hair short hair we still beautiful. And back in the day they took care of their hair, made their own grease and kept it wrapped with yarn. To grow it out. I can’t say if hers is real or not but alot of them do have hair like that.
it’s a weave. the spaces near her ears that show thru to the backdrop indicate how thin the longer hair is…. which doesn’t match the thickness of the short hair on the top of her head. that doesn’t take away from her gorgeousness at all though.
Does it matter if its her on fish real life is not if weather if it isn’t night she bought it if she did buy it is hers is real now and what does it matter to anybody else is hers
I think that is fabric on her head as a partial head covering. Looking at the front of her hair and what is hanging down they look too different. I do believe her hair is most likely in a bun.
Black people, please stop it with all the hatred, ofcourse that’s her hair….Black women have long hair too!!!! Stop believing that bs that slave masters imbedded in your brains,……her hair is beautiful!
Black people, please stop it with all the hatred, ofcourse that’s her hair….Black women have long hair too!!!! Stop believing that bullshit that slave masters imbedded in your brains,……her hair is beautiful!
I see some one needs to check out a history book or better yet google , lol. But regardless it don’t matter if she was mixed Indian or not , black people can grow long hair.. She’s beautiful even if she was bald headed. But we all was responding to the post.. An everybody is untitled to an opinion . One of the reasons I responded simply because I know. And I saw this video where this young lady was saying that black women can’t grow hair that they have to wear weaves. We all know that’s not so . We get enough critic. from others to doing it ourselves. Is it an old pic or made to look old.? Who is she?
Could be her hair!!!! Im a living witness black ppl can grow long hair…mine used to come to the middle of my back! Ive seen other races who hair doesnt grow to be that long..so dont doubt it
Why is if it’s her hair even a concern? Why do people act like black women can’t or aren’t allowed to have long hair? America done did a number on us! But nonetheless she’s Beautiful!
She s beautiful. I’m sure there r those that don’t know many Black women based on some of the comments here, we r all not bald, n grow our hair by choice or not. So stop with the nonsense “I don’t think that’s her hair?” Lol.
This is the most ignorant statement/? I have ever seen. Omg because she’s is f****** African American, that just can’t be her hair. Really. Why do we make hair such a big issue in the black community. We don’t need for any other race to hate on us because some of us do it perfectly fine ourselves…and how would any of us know useless we were around during that era and none of us were…so I ask, what is the point of this post because its not educatung us.#sad
I think it’s beautiful on her regardless of what anybody thinks it’s real or not.The only people or women who would ask if it’s real or not is if their fearing competition. You will be amazed on how many women will ask you if it’s your hair right in front of a man or crowd to draw attention away from you. If it is an extension or not,why is it bothering most people? If she’s bald, why would it even still bother most people? It’s not bothering me. Remember hair makes a person, but don’t let the hair make you.
I like the old-fashioned photo, but in other words ,quit criticizing what shouldn’t be, but is. It’s all about criticism and competition.
Hair extensions are centuries old. But this is a beautiful photo either way.
If those are extensions, they look a hella better than what chicks be throwing in their head nowadays.
No. Extensions have been around since the days of ancient Egypt. I love looking at this photograph.
Thank you!! Extensions are not some modern day phenomenon
Yes
IDK but she looks absolutely amazing and it wouldn’t be unheard of
Aaliyah Ingram-Jones Those are NOT Hair extensions…..
You sound so sure of that 🙂
Black people could grow long hair too.
Not extentions
Idk but who is she?
Maybe maybe not but don’t think just cuz she’s black she can’t have long hair!
Who could Eva tell, does anybody no her?
Yes gotta be maybe she had it braided and took it down halfway
Whatever the case she’s gorgeous!

African Americans with Indian in them….. THIS IS A MYTH.
We are OK just being of African decent.
Not a myth. My great grandmother was Native American.
I agree it’s not a myth. There is a lot of Cherokee, Choctaw and Blackfoot Indian ancestry mixed with African in southern states.
And my great great grandfather was but I guess you know everyone’s family genealogy better than they do.
Only 1% of African-Americans have indian in them.Juyanique you are right.
Research people! You’ll all get the right answers.

Yes. However it should not matter: she’s a beautiful Queen…
Beautiful pic!!!
Don’t think it’s a true antique pic.
Right. .too much small detail..like you can clearly see her rings
Why do people have such an obsession with hair? As long as it’s healthy, the length shouldn’t matter. ….
I agree..
Amen
Why do people think you have to be mixed with something to have long hair? Really
Being closed minded and ignorant smh. I’ve seen beautiful black people with long hair. Not even mixed. We just have to ignore the stupidity.
I know that’s right!
Why wouldn’t it be her hair?!
My aunt had hair like that back then they said it was taking her strenght she has cut it several times and has grown it back to that lenght
This is a very old picture you can tell and she’s beautiful
I dint think they had weaves back then!!

Looks like she took her braids down …
Well damn! Get ’em mama!

Girls bye you don’t know…that’s just a theory like every one else, we will never know..
true! Ashley
I don’t think there was weave back then.
it looks real
Yes, I think so
Does it matter if its her on fish real life is not if weather if it isn’t night she bought it if she did buy it is hers is real now and what does it matter to anybody else is hers
Beautiful
I think that is fabric on her head as a partial head covering. Looking at the front of her hair and what is hanging down they look too different. I do believe her hair is most likely in a bun.
All hers hmmm.look like family
Black people, please stop it with all the hatred, ofcourse that’s her hair….Black women have long hair too!!!! Stop believing that bs that slave masters imbedded in your brains,……her hair is beautiful!

Hell naw
I bet it is,look at hair texture around her edges and her complexion is also different; look as if she has some bi racial blood from somewhere.
Why do people think black people don’t have long hair? People need to stop being idiots. I’m done with this conversation already.
I don’t think it’s extensions
Wow beautiful
Look at my profile pic. My mom was 91 when I took this picture right after a shampoo and blowout.
I guess we’ll never know
Some other black history! Real black beauty. No weave stores and hair glue back then. Yes we can grow long hair, for real!!!
My grandmother sat on her hair and so did my cousin….,there were no weaves in the 20’s and 30’s
Pretty sure wigs and hair pieces have been around since the Egyptians.
It’s my opinion that it is her natural hair…the picture just looked like my family’s older pictures….
Although I do believe it’s her hair. Weaves/wigs were out in the 20’s.
Now that’s real pineapple wave.

Beautiful,with or with out hair!
no it was not her hair…its not blending in good…. she is beautiful ..
If I hear that questioned asked one more time
Could be her hair!!!! Im a living witness black ppl can grow long hair…mine used to come to the middle of my back! Ive seen other races who hair doesnt grow to be that long..so dont doubt it

Well it isn’t weave. Duh it’s her hair!
We are the only women who get asked that question
Yes by other black women who are obsessed by the length of everyone’s hair…
She s beautiful. I’m sure there r those that don’t know many Black women based on some of the comments here, we r all not bald, n grow our hair by choice or not. So stop with the nonsense “I don’t think that’s her hair?” Lol.

Exactly, people constantly scrutinize everything about us! Yet they constantly imitate us! If you can figure that out let me know.
Yes that is her hair
My hair was that long
I think it’s beautiful on her regardless of what anybody thinks it’s real or not.The only people or women who would ask if it’s real or not is if their fearing competition. You will be amazed on how many women will ask you if it’s your hair right in front of a man or crowd to draw attention away from you. I believe thats her hair
Oooo child yes!!!! Living for that hair though!
Her hair is beautiful bottom line if she was white it wouldn’t be questionable
Black women can grow long, beautiful hair…idc why this is even a question. White women wear weaves & extensions just like we do.
Rock that Crochet girl! It’s not about the length it’s the texture.
Yesss it hers
I swear only negros have this dumb ass conversation.
Whether it’s her hair or not, it doesn’t matter; she’s beautiful!
