Below you will find a simple yet effective yogurt honey mask recipe that you can make yourself at home.
Yogurt-Honey* hair masks are commonly used as a hair treatment or deep conditioner*. It has anti-frizz properties, adds shine, softens hairs, and is great for adding hydration and life back to your strands.
Yogurt contains probiotics that contribute to a healthy scalp as well as zinc* and lactic acid which both promote hair growth and stimulates blood circulation. The milk in yogurt is responsible for softening the hair and playing a role in prevention of hair loss. Because yogurt has natural anti-fungal and anti-bacterial properties, it’s great for cleansing naturally by helping clear the dry skin from the scalp.
Honey is responsible for adding shine to hair and making dull and dry hair more lustrous and full of life. It also is a natural softener for both skin and hair. Other benefits include its role in moisture retention for the scalp and its ability to contribute to a healthy scalp and hair growth stimulation.
Here’s the simple recipe:
1/4 cup Plain Full Fat Yogurt
2-3 Tbsp Honey*
1 Tbsp coconut oil*, melted (optional)
Allow yogurt to sit at room temperature for about 10-15min to pre-warm. Combine all ingredients in small bowl and mix well. Apply mask to hair and cover with a plastic cap for ~20-30min. Rinse out well under cool water.
Note: This mask can be used as a pre-poo before washing hair or as a deep conditioner*. It is recommended to use this hair mask every 1-2 weeks. Other oils* and ingredients such as avocado or banana may be added for additional benefits.
