So I decided to look deeper into where I wanted my hair to be in 3 months-6 months-a year. I found hairspirations who have hair texture, density, and porosity like mine.
I wanted to see the styles that would give the illusion of volume (fine hair problems) and jot down notes on how to retain length.
For my hairspirations, I decided to subscribe to MissCharmsie and DiscoCurls for having similar hair texture and density as mine, YoursNaturally for her styling options for shorter hair and valuable information to care for natural hair from damaged curls, and Millicent Swift for her intricate styling options that are broken down to easily understand them.
Choose hairspirations that will keep you inspired about your own hair and will give your specific information pertaining to your own hair.
Play with my hair more
I’m not talking about HIHS (hand-in-hair-syndrome). For most of my hair journey, I have worn protective styles either by using my own natural hair or using extensions*.
I do know what works for my hair, in terms of styles and products but I have not had the chance to really play with ‘out’ styles.
I would love to learn how to do 3-strand twist outs, voluminous perm rod sets, and of course the wash n go.
I want to wear my hair in it’s absolute natural state, instead of stretching my hair for every style that I do. This will allow me to be more confident in my hair and will help me to love my curls even more!
Attend natural hair meetups, events, and shows
I definitely want to do this! This will continue to keep me inspired about my own hair and just be in an atmosphere of “hair love.”
I have heard of natural hair meetups before, but have not had the chance to attend one. I see so many Instagram pictures of naturalistas meeting with hair gurus for a ‘lift me and my hair up’ event or naturalistas getting together for coffee just because of their hair and I find that so enlightening and would love to be part of that movement.
Finally, who wouldn’t want to see a fun and colorful hair show? I have see lots of movies with hair competitions and hair shows and would pay to have a front row seat.
If you know the mistakes you faced with your hair, you will be able to plan for goals and inspirations for the next year I know it worked for me! Good luck this year!
