Allow your hair to dry
This is my biggest problem, I am not patient enough to allow the hair to fully dry, so then I end up with a poofy twist out and I then turn around and blame the style. Well its not the styles fault its yours, let that bad boy dry that will ensure maximum definition.
With all that hydration, we do during deep conditioning* and adding leave ins and stylers that have water as a base, it’s no wonder our hair takes forever to dry. Be patient, let it dry or you will ruin it point blank.
Trim
Girl, if your ends are shabby, it doesn’t matter what the hec you do – it will NEVER look right. Nicely trimmed ends gives your style a clean finish.
Do not blame the style if your ends look a mess. I promise you your hair will look so much better with great trim. Your curls will pop better, and your twist outs will look amazing from root to tip.
The weather
Hey we can’t fight mother nature, and some climates are more humid than others, so girls on the humid side of the world will have twists and braids that have a little more bulk to it. Other women who have less humidity to deal with won’t have to deal with much frizz.
This is just something to bear in mind, when trying to perfect a style. In other words, sometimes it’s not really the style, but more so how your hair reacts to moisture in the air. There are frizz busters out there, but sometimes they might not be worth the struggle; it’s up to you.
Maybe it’s you
It’s easy to say that you can never get the style right no matter what you do. You have tried all of the above and nothing works, then maybe what you are seeing in the mirror is not what you would prefer to see.
The problem is, your Twist Out is your Twist Out, and you will not look like Corrine Bailey Rae at the end of it, because your hair is much different from hers.
Even though we might have natural hair in common, it doesn’t mean that all heads behave equally. Some of us will do a Braid Out and get tons of hang time, others of us will do one, and get some hang, but more width and height.
It’s just is what it is at the end of the day, so maybe you just do not like how certain styles look on you, which is perfectly ok. What styles have you perfected lately?
