The “in between” stage gets a bad rap, for natural hair this stage is also affectionately known as the awkward stage. Here is the thing, we suggest strongly that you get with it because mid-length hair is where it’s at now. Whether it’s a sew-in, a wig*, or your own hair, mid-length hair can give you and your personal style some life and here is why:
It’s easy styling.
This is the number one, obvious perk of having a mid-length style. If you can get past the ‘oh it doesn’t look right’ you will find that styling is super easy once you know what your are doing. Straightening is easy, wash n go’s are easy, twist outs are easy, the only problem is your mindset.
It’s a professional, yet outgoing look.
These days mid-length hair commands a lot of attention, mostly because it is trending but also because it screams professional as well as fun and flirty. There is no better combination!
It brings out your hidden features.
Long hair can definitely hide some of your best features because your hair can hide your face and neck if not pulled back. Mid-length hair complements those cheekbones and neck length showing off your beautiful face and skin even without a ponytail or bun.
It satisfies those who like short and long hair.
For those of you who can never make up your mind about if you want short or long hair, mid-length is always the way to go.
Remember when you regretted that super short hair cut, or that time when your hair was so long you just needed a change? In such cases opt for mid-length as the best compromise. If you make up your mind to just enjoy your mid-length hair you will soon forget the awkwardness of having it.
Try different styles, curly sets, bob looks, added weave for color or funky fro’s. Once you start to really enjoy it you will be surprised how quickly you are out of that stage. You might actually miss it!

I have mid length natural hair ( when stretched / straightened ) and I wear my hair in a braided updo protective style ( just my real hair ) to get through this stage . My goal is armpit length hair then if I achieve that then my next goal would be bra strap and then I’ll stop there. I really hate this stage. I never wear my hair out . It’s always in a braided updo.
