I have mentioned before that I have been low key, killing wash and go’s this Summer. Literally running out of conditioner as we speak and loving my results every time. So why in the world would I write a post about what I hate about wash and go’s? Well for one nothing is ever perfect and it helps to get all sides of the story, that simple!
Everyone’s hair experience is different and when you read stories from other women about what they like to do with their hair, and what their hair likes and hates it is always interesting.
Even though our stories are all different we can all relate to some of the problems we often talk about and when I tell you my seven things I hate about my wash and go’s, you may agree with a few of them as well. Here are the 7 things I hate about my wash and go’s:
1. Single strand knots
I have a hate hate relationship with single strand knots and over the years I have grown to be more tolerant of them, which is very surprising.
These days wearing my hair in a wash and go means having my hair pretty shrunken and since I have the finest hair on the planet, I find that my knot numbers are pretty epic.
To eliminate single strand knots would mean stretching my hair, but with my consistent co-wash regimen, there really is no point.
The only way to avoid single strand knots is to smooth out the strand completely and that is the polar opposite of the wash and go.
2. It doesn’t last all week long
Yes there are some women who say that they can make their wash and go last for 5 or more days, do not ask me how they do it, because I will tell you from my experience there is no truth to that.
The real truth is, maybe it is possible, but I cannot let 4 days pass by without co-washing and typically I would redo my hair every 3 days. While I love a fresh wash and go sometimes I just do not feel like re-doing my hair. #fact
3. I miss my stretched hair
This might just be a part of my crazy thing where I get bored after 2 minutes of doing one thing over and over.
Don’t even judge me, you guys are like that too! Sometimes when I see a single strand knot or I have to cowash* and my two year old has worn me out, I start to think “well Petra if your hair was stretched, you wouldn’t have this problem.” Hey it happens!
4. I run out of product fast
Gel? gone! Conditioner? Gone! Oils*? Almost done! Wash and go’s may not require many combinations of products but if you want your style to last the products you do use might run out fast which can be a tad bit annoying.
On the flip side you get to try a bunch of different conditioners and gels but then this post would be called “7 things I love about my wash and go’s” so I will save that point for another time.
These days I purchase two of everything so that I always have my products available, but I am always surprised at how quickly I have to run to the store.
Wet hair touching meeeeee
Oh I HATE that too!!!!!
I hate when my wet hair drips all over my face and shirt . I haven’t done a wash and go since last year . I wear protective styles 90 percent of the time and stretched styles 10 percent of the time . Plus shrinkage , tangles , bad hair , and single strand knots that came with wash and go’s are the DEVIL !
I have a hate/love relationship with my hair too. I hate how my hair doesn’t last after one day and I miss my stretched hair too.
