Back To Basics: Condition Your Hair But Shampoo Your Scalp

When learning about hair care for the first time, information overload is a real issue and for newbies this can be seriously overwhelming.

Back in the day when I started my hair journey we primarily learned about hair from online forums and even then there was a great deal of info to sift through.

But since then, between hair blogs which have become prolific and popular not to mention all the hair related books also available, I can only imagine how difficult it is to wade through this stuff for a newbie in 2013. Someone ought to write a manual!

I stumbled on a hair care forum back in 2008 frustrated with my breaking relaxed hair and the information that I found there changed the fate of my hair, and quite possibly my life, forever! I immediately started to transition to natural hair and started BlackHairInformation.com as a way to help both myself and other women of color achieve their dreams of long healthy hair. I have now achieved my goal length and I continue to help others achieve their dreams too. I know our hair gets dry but moisturizing our hair twice or even 3x a week don’t make sense to me. My hair gets drier the more I remoisturize. As for cowashing, I really just rinse my hair with water and put conditioner on hair not scalp and rinse. As for shampooing, I’m on a need to bases because I see that my greasy wet hair is easy to dentagle and it stays moisturize. It don’t feel greasy when dry but it’s still soft and fluffly. Do what works for your hair!!!
