Perhaps one of the hardest things to see before reaching your own hair goals (especially with length) are women who have super long hair because it seems like you’ll never be in that place. Secretly, I look for hair inspiration from women who have started from short hair and have successfully grown out long, healthy hair.
Hailing from the UK, Lesley is one of those ladies who basically started her hair journey from the bottom and is still working her way up. She started from neck length in 2010 and now how a glorious and full head of hair to show for her hair journey.
In case her YouTube videos aren’t enough for you she has her own blog and is a contributing writer for Birthday Magazine. I consider her to be my texlaxed braidout queen and love trying out some of her styles.

I haven’t been on this HHJ long but long enough to have heard of at least two of the five. I don’t subscribe to them, YET, but I will. I have used prettywitty77 for my pre-relaxer steps and have recommended that on another hair website. I also have Jen in my Twitter account – I confess I haven’t used twitter in a while but I do glance at the messages in my inbox from time to time. THANK YOU for this list and I am DEFINITELY going to look at them.

ULoveMegs (#2) was the reason I started my hair journey, though I’m not relaxed any more she got these healthy hair wheels moving =]

Aw hell nah. Leave that liquid crack alone ladies.
Jordann Alease says
Yeah everyone can do what they want to do with their hair but relaxers shouldn’t be encouraged anymore despite whether your hair can be healthy in them or not. They are a soup of chemicals that you dump on your scalp in the first place. There are chemicals in relaxers that are not even allowed to be used as household cleaning products.
Helga Walpole says
Well said!
Chyna Entyce says
Almost fell back in the relaxer thing because I personally am not a fan of the natural styles (twist outs, braid outs, etc) but I’ll just stick with my Dominican Blowouts. Their wash/condition regimen keeps my hair healthy and growing.
Sisi Kitty Greenidge says
Ever tried flat ironing? There are some good tutorials on YouTube. I’m not a fan of twist outs either so I don’t bother with them
Tammie Faulkner Taylor says
Being overweight is more harmful to our bodies than relaxers.
The hypocrisy. ..lol

Natasha Hector Richardson says
For goodness sake leave the relaxed ladies alone, its their bloody hair.
Urenacie Tranquility says
Leave-in conditioner/conditioners/shampoos, by definition, are all chemicals, too! Im quite sure if you overuse/misuse those products, it can be quite damaging to your hair, as well. Just because you’ve misused a relaxer in the past or you just choose not to use it doesnt make it bad for everyone else.
Helga Walpole says
NO THANKS!
Black women need to let go of this creamy crack mess.

Yeah there are so many good natural products I use for my hair and I try to stay away from those chemicals as much as I can. It’s so worth it in the long run and healthier for black hair.
