Thank you so much for understanding guys. It was a really tough decision but I really needed something to change. You can have healthy hair, relaxed or natural. I have no regrets whatsoever. My natural hair may have looked good but it wasn’t healthy. I DID NOT USE A RELAXER BECAUSE I THOUGHT IT WOULD TURN MY HAIR HEALTHY OR TRIGGER MORE GROWTH, I USED A RELAXER TO MAKE IT MORE MANAGEABLE FOR ME AS I DISCOVER WHAT WORKS FOR ME . I opted to using a relaxer as opposed to just big chopping straight up again. Using a relaxer is giving me time to prepare before transitioning again(if I do decide to go back natural). I will take your advice and change my stylist. It saddens me to see a lot of people unsubscribe because of this. I’m sorry to everyone who feels disappointed. I am not my hair. And will I disable the comments? Hell no! It’s opening my eyes to see the monsters in the so called “community” who hide behind “self love” while attacking another because their representation is different. ❤️

Dang
Why?!
Why do women care so much about another woman’s head I say do what works for you
We put each other damn for the dumbest reasons it’s only hair
Because ppl overthink and judge everything. A whole lifelong full of relaxers and ppl want to shame it now. Ppl get silk wraps and they can look as straight as permed hair but ppl think they’re better bcuz it’s natural.
It looks flat and lifeless. ✌✌
I didn’t watch the whole video. I just looked at the final result and it doesn’t look good at all. It didnt even flow naturally. I’m guessing w.e she used weighed it down
That was terrible
Looks lifeless ♀️ but do you Queen!!!
And it looked horrible….., she’ll regret it.
Why did it hurt.
I can understand that you get frustrated. I’ve been natural since 2008 and I have wanted a change for soooooo long( natural hair is exhausting yet rewarding) However, relaxers are so bad for your hair I WOULD NEVER go back to the burning and discomfort. You all are right it’s her hair, but there are healthier ways. SN: The stylist did a terrible job on actually styling her hair.
Protective styling is key so you don’t get sick and tierd of your natural hair braids are my best friend in that area
I’ve been natural twice before I relaxed my hair longest was for like 3 years and yes the “fro” can get to be a task at some time but 95% of the time my hair is in a protective style I just did the big chop again in December of last year and I don’t plan on ever going back to a relaxer but….. I think a wrap on her hair would have turned out better than having her hair blow dried and then flat ironed I dont get that part ???????? its just damaged hair all over again
I think the stylist forgot that she put a relaxer in her hair and proceeded to style her hair as if it was natural.
i just wear wigs all the time or poofs on occasion. Natural hair is tedious and difficult regardless of how “rewarding ” it is. …. It is just hair after all. If i could go back to affording relaxers i would. I’ve been natural almost 3 years and the only reason i did it was because i can’t relax my own hair, i can’t afford it and my mom is no longer able to do it for me. I’ve actually lost a lot of hair in this journey to Natural hair. I’ve found it is just as pricey though if not more… but its easier to just wear wigs and try to properly maintain it under. My hair was healthier relaxed. Didn’t shed as much, grew out faster.. you just gotta know how to take care of it.
Not just bad for your hair, relaxers are bad for your health as well. #NeverAgain
Exactly why I will never put that crack in my head ever again! Her beautiful hair literally died!
I’ve honestly been thinking about relaxing again, I understand
Everybody doesn’t has to have natural hair..
Awful. Her stylist was rough with her head, not to mention combing it when the relaxer was in. It looked so stiff too!
Didn’t
like it and it was over processed that’s why it look stiff????????
Stringy and lifeless! Her hair looked so full and lush before
She didn’t clip her ends. I was very surprised she didn’t clip them, especially after she flat ironed her hair and you could see uneven ends. I’m not knocking her for getting a relaxer. I’ve been natural since 2014 and everyone should feel free to make their own choices, but..lord…if it’s natural and damaged, wouldn’t a relaxer make it worse???? Without her ends being properly clipped, she’s going to experience breakage now. ????????♀️
I agree and not to mention, wasn’t she suppose to trim her ends after relaxing her hair????? I am totally disturbed by this whole charade!!!????????
Ok I’m so glad I not the only one that felt this way. Her hair was so lifeless, and looked over processed. I’m not sure that she really liked it but was is done is done.
Silk Press Protective Styles Wigs and sorts help avoid this option My hair is so much healthier without the lye But if it makes you happy go for it
I go between relaxing and braiding I relax my hair just to make it manageable as my hair is very thick and I do braid it to give relaxing a break for few months it’s all about how u care for your hair finding the right products that don’t break out your hair ..personally for me thank u god for that relaxer kit amen lol
I definitely relax maybe twice a year 3 times if it gets to bad
It’s gotta be done I don’t know what all the big hype is about having natural hair ..whats good for some ain’t good for others ????????
Not trying to argue lol but wanted to respond to “thick” hair….we have been trained from our past to believe that our hair is unmanageable…i use to say that all the time… i have the thickest grade of hair there is, but have learned that we have been misinformed…over time I have learned how to manage my very thick hair without chemicals and I am amazed that I ever believed the lies that we have been taught! I think it’s a personal choice if someone wants a relaxer that’s their choice but our hair is not unmanageable…we just haven’t learned how to manage it (until we do learn…)…
Yes very true I do get what you mean I have very thick grade hair wen it’s not relaxed and I just find it hard work and I get a very tender scalp through combing so any thing to ease the stress of it is a bonus ..but each to their own we do what suits us best ????
Relaxing is a a lazy way period
What kinda salon she gone to n they mess up her hair from the way she was relaxing it i said this gonna turn out bad
They should have used no lye relaxer firstly n secondly she suppose to relax tge roots not the ends. Also she’s not suppose to comb her hair while the relaxer is in
They had to relax the whole thing because it was natural. I prefer lye relaxers strangely. But yeah the combing is a no no
No lye is just as good but the lady didnt relax her hair properly. She suppose to do the roots n work her way to the ends….
It looks really overprocessed as well and thin. It was probably left for too long. And I’m not sure about that brand of relaxer.
But relaxed hair can be long and healthy. You just have to find what works.
Actually, if a person is getting a virgin relaxer, they are supposed to start at the ends and during the last 5-7 minutes work their way up to the roots. The hair closer to the roots with any chemical process is going to process much quicker than the midshaft and ends if it is a virgin application. Also, lye is better than no-lye as no-lye leaves chemical deposits on the hair, making it drier. That’s why with lye relaxers you have to work fast and it process much faster than a no-lye relaxer.
It’s just hair.
I was feeling the same way she was last year i was thinking man my hair is not growing. So i talked to my aunt and she said keep it braided up and i did amd it grew my hair like crazy so im glad i didnt relax my hair
Keeping your hair braided, is NOT what grows your hair! It’s the fact that there is less manipulation going on, because your hair is in a protective style. Your hands do not have to be in your hair every day! #FreeWorshipFreeWors #YouTube
I felt the stylist could have done a better job at styling after the perm…
Not feeling how the hair dresser styled her hair or put the relaxer in. If she keeps getting relaxers she needs to go to someone else. But other then that, do you. I personally would never go back to chemicals.
I recently relax mind. I was sick of breaking Combs and I’m tender-headed. Relaxer is not good for you but it sure make your hair manageable.
She’s beautiful and such a sweetie!
Now that it permed take care n condition it good . Wrap it n you will be fine . I’m natural but do blow out because if it’s not in sew in I get blow out . I don’t like nappy looking hair for myself . Please you !
She isn’t her hair, but she is her health. That stuff has been proven to impact your health so….
Was going to a natural hair specialist not an option?
Someone would say the same about you. Like when people say big girls should lose weight because of their health knowing damn well they really don’t care about a strangers health and just want to shame them.
Old ladies is out here living in their 80s with perms b.
She can do whatever she wants with her head.
I can’t speak for others but in my case my weight is like having a perm and transitioning to natural. Once I lose weight(go natural) I would not intentionally get fat again(put in another perm) so…..
And again I can’t speak for others, but I care about her health so my statement stands. Just like I would care about my and any other fat person’s health.
Noooooo.
Poor women, why did she do that? That hair dresser was terrible! Why was she combing her hair with the relaxer in it?
Why would anyone do that?! Relaxers are not only bad for your hair but they’re bad for your health! You’re literally putting Nair on your head….It’s the same chemical make up
It looks thin, but I think it’s bc the hairdresser didn’t style it right. Good luck on your hair journey and don’t let anyone make you feel a certain way about your decision. At the end of the day it’s just hair.
She plans to continue with her “NATURAL HAIR ROUTINE”?! How? You hair has a CHEMICAL in it! It will NOT response the same way, as your hair did before, with natural hair care products in it! She is just asking for trouble, if she does that! Not to mention, risking her LIFE, with the possibility of getting fibroids! Highest among BLACK WOMEN! She needs to watch the Chris Rock documentary, “Good Hair”!
That stylist did a terrible job. Her ends needed trimmed and it looked unhealthy with the perm. I’m all for perms if that’s what you want but that did not look good or professional.
Perms make the hair curly. Relaxers make the hair straight.
I watched this on YouTube last week. You can tell she doesn’t live here, as she bought the relaxer and took it with her. So wherever she is from they must not do all of what we are used to. Personally I’m done with relaxers but looking at this video she claims to have wanted the relaxer, but looked very remorseful afterwards. But if she happy then let her be.
Yesssss!!! I’m dying that she didn’t clip her ends. That made no sense.
She’s beautiful no matter what style she has.
I see perm, natural, short, long, color, no color, wigs, weaves, braids etc. Get the picture?? Be yourself with your hair and not what everyone else do or want. Styles go in and out.
I enjoy the relaxed look but for some reason I just haven’t been able to go back to that. I can’t stand the chemical…then needing a touch up…smh, I just can’t. Natural was liberating for me. Whatever works for each woman of color though, do it.
No thanks! I am a natural woman!!!!❤ my hair!
Looks a mess ! Wasn’t bouncy or nothing just flat .
Do what you want to your hair, forget about people and what they say! People will say anything! Haters
My edges are growing in nicely and the price of touch-ups ridiculous.
Oh no baby…what is you doing..
My hair grows very good with my relaxer. EVERY MONTH I see my new growth, and every month my hair is longer. I can wear my hair in any style without any pain, frustration, or bi-weekly payments to the beautician. I love my hair. Never been in the trending business!
Relaxers are a trend wtf are you talking about so you was born with relaxed hair yall pll are crazy
Your stylist done a awful job.
I am natural and my daughter is not my hair is fine and her is extremely thick. She tried going natural and she is a college student athlete and she just did not have the time to do all that is required to detangling etc for natural hair. She went back to a relaxer and I completely understand why. It’s her choice and I just want her happy and not frustrated. It’s not that serious
I was natural for 6 years and then I relaxed mine. My hair was and still is long and healthy. I don’t use box relaxers. I go to a professional and I get regular trims. I drink plenty of water, exercise, take my vitamins, and eat a healthy diet. I said all that because so many people are focused on doing something unhealthy 3 or 4 times a year, but aren’t worried about all the things they do daily that are far more detrimental to their health. Let’s stay focused on what’s really important.
Professionals use box relaxers also they just put in in a bowl so you don’t see it
I did the same after almost 5 years… And I’m now I’m clean again for 3 months, natural hair is MUCH MORE work…But worth it. ❣
I cringed at watching her blow her hair on high heat then flat iron it with multiple passes.
She is COMPLETELY right “it is just hair” but those of use who tend to think deeper into our social conditioning, deeper into the historical and generational trauma that people of color have suffered throughout time. Those people find it hard to simply negate the fact that relaxing was and is not just a choice of hairstyle. We have been conditioned, told our hair was ugly, unworthy, deplorable and our own hair should be something other than what it is. It’s not just a case of not liking a style, there’s nothing wrong with changes but to equate permant chemical changes with health and happiness just highlights how messed up our thinking has become due to 100s of years of being ashamed. Someone once told me you can tell what’s inside of a woman’s head by how she chooses to wear her hair and this makes alot of sense because it IS more socially acceptable hence easier to wear our hair in wigs, weaves, relaxed than it is to wear it in a natural state. So when you see a person who is not afraid to just be you know it’s takes some strength. Not offense to anyone just my thoughts on the issue.
That sounds like your personal experience so it doesn’t need to be applied for everybody. It’s just hair as India arie once stated “I am not my hair.” If I decide to go bald it’s dead follicles it will grow back.
I understand. I’ve went back and relaxed twice out of wanting something easier. Missed my natural tho. Never could keep the relaxer long enough to even get a touch up ♀️. Big chopped and haven’t looked back. I just couldn’t get used to relaxed hair again. I still 90% of the time wear natural textured wigs. I just can’t be bothered doing any kind of hair everyday lol. Do what works for you
There is no such thing as relaxed healthy hair.. Relaxers cause fibroids…. To each his own though..shrugs
I had relaxed hair forever and never had fibroids
Her hair looks soo thin..I feel bad for her. I had a similar experience recently & went back to natural. Love thick hair!
She could just have naturally fine (thin) hair. I know I do. My hair looks thick natural due to shrinkage, but flat ironed or relaxed it looks very fine.
Perms are cancerous . That’s just my opinion but why not just press it idk . I get the stress with natural hair but I would never revert back to perms I think it’s very toxic to our body
I have a relaxer and my hair is healthy and down my back. I’ve seen so called natural hair that wasn’t healthy.
You do you girl! Never mind what the movement thinks!
creamy crack is job security for medical professionals…smh
OMG how could U do it I know how it hurts I don’t think the pain is worth it
Falling for the brain white wash again!! U don’t need your hair straighten with poisons.
More power to her. I love all this Black Girl Magic my natural hair possess. She is going to miss her curls i bet.
I’m natural and I’ve got thick curly hair but I would be lying if i said i don’t think about relaxing my hair from time to time.
Just got my hair relaxed after being natural since 2014. I’m less stressed out and so much happier. I wish I could post my pic of after my relaxer however, my stylist used a professional perm.
I am here to share all the secrets on how i got my hair this long. Please view my public posts on my facebook page for more info. If you are in need of help please dont hesitate to reach out to me and leave me a message. I am here to help. YES YOUR HAIR CAN GROW LONG AND HEALTHY!
That video is confirmation that I will never put another relaxer in my hair. Nope. The stylist
I’m not going to lie her hair looked immediately then after the relaxer but it’s her hair and she has to be comfortable with the skin she’s in I’m glad she didn’t regret her decision
I think she just went to the wrong person. I’ve been natural for 5 years but I’m about to go back to a perm. My hair is crazy thick and it’s a hassle with the washing and detangling. Everybody’s hair is different and everybody’s preference is different. So let the relaxed ppl live. In the end….we’re all grown and can pretty much do what we want with our hair.
Right. Hair is just hair. I just wished the stylist would have clipped her ends.
I went back to relaxer recently I did a better job in my bathroom than this so called licensed professional
Some of these comments re-emphasize the fact that we are our own worst enemies.
I feel you but I don’t think I can be this brave I loved your natural look but just be happy at what ever you do! #iamnotmyhair
She could’ve achieved the same look if not better with a flat iron and silk press.
wat type of relaxer r u using
Although her natural hair was fabulous the permed was ummm….that’s all I got…lol as much as she was unimpressed so was I but I do understand the natural struggle when all else fails I just pay my coworker $10 to put 2 braids down either side and call it a day…it works for a couple days and then I do a twist out…if that’s not working o just get it braided I don’t think I’m going back to perms and this video all but confirmed it
I’ve been natural. I’ve worn my hair relaxed. I love both equally. Hair is an accessory. Keep it healthy and move on.
So from what I saw . This was a whole mess . When she said her head was burning the relaxer should have been rinsed immediately. The style after was just limp . Relaxers are made to manage hair . Not to make the hair pin straight . If she going to get her hair done . Don’t go to this hop again . All the techniques were all wrong .
For those of you that say natural hair is a lot of work would you mind explaining why?
I’ve been natural 17 years and I did get a relaxer and cut it out shortly there after. Relaxed hair is such work.
What is difficult about natural hair?
Also what’s your hair type?
I’ve been natural for 2 years and damn this is a lot of work! The washing, de tangling, the Sealing, even when I just look at it I get tired lol.. or am I just lazy ????????????
To each it’s own you have to do what is best for you. I have been natural for 3 years and I eat healthy, drink a lot of water, do some moderate exercise, take my vitamins.Going natural has been one of the best decisions I have made and wish I would have done it sooner. My hair is stronger and healthier. Love being natural!
So! I relaxed mine for my stylist as a model and I’m about to chop it back off into my natural! It’s only hair and it’s her business!!!
F**k the haters! Do you! As my late mother said to me as a young teen “not everybody has good intentions!” Didn’t understand what she meant then but when I started my journey into adulthood, I understood. I’m giving my hair a rest from relaxing and is under a weave, when I’m ready will go back to relaxing. Don’t let the haters get you down! We must stop putting ourselves down!
After 5 years of being natural, the thought of relaxing never crossed my mind. I know natural hair is work, so the maintenance may not be for everyone. I discovered indian oiling technique/pre-poo with amla oil and my hair growth accelerated
Noooooooo. I came 2 years if not longer I know how you feel , but I ❤️ My natural hair. I pray I never go back
I just can’t believe they combed her hair with relaxer in it!! If it was damaged before the relaxer, I’m sure it is destroyed now!! The whole application process was wrong. The stylist looked like she didn’t want to do it in the first place. And who uses a box perm at a hair salon???
She should have gone to an black American shop, I’m sorry but hair care is not a lot of African women’s strong suit. She needs a trim, just a whole cut period. It wasn’t even worth the perm. I also never seen a salon use an off the counter box perm.
You are a beautiful, cultured young woman. Do what works for you. Personally I’m natural but love weaves for free flowing ease.
I’m sorry but I wouldn’t let Aunty anywhere near my hair. The amount of hair sins she committed on her client was far too much . This lady had beautiful natural hair! She didn’t have to relax it but to each their own. I’m just vex at the lack of styling skill. Hair was looking fried, dry and dashed to the side.
Yasss I want to shave mine yet again..but I’ve been there. Want dreds!! But it’s yours do as you please!!!
All that heat is more scary than the perm. Curious why the heat was necessary to straighten after a perm? Isn’t that what the perm is supposed to do?
forgotten pain. I thank God for new hair care products & companies!
Do YOU not what others want you to do!
Omg that “stylist” put the relaxer in wrong & she did style the hair at all.
Perms are the leading cause of fibroid tumors. A fact. Why? Why would you
1. Put chemicals in your hair?
2. Put yourself at risk for fibroid tumors????? Smdh!! Did you learn anything on your natural hair journey? What a dang on waste.
Do what works for your girl. No judgment here!
I don’t bash people for the decisions that they make with their hair. However, the stylist could have done a better job. The right products and techniques matter.
Never will I go back to a relaxer. Relaxed hair is just as much work as natural hair.
Stylist did a horrible job!! Hair looks limp and uneven. She didn’t even trim/clip you ends, which promotes hair growth. You wasted your time and money. I hope it was a freebie.
Sorry, but that hair looked awful. Why is it so limp and lifeless? It’s supposed to have bounce and body. No problem with the perm, but that stylist tho.
Smh
That was stupid to do.
She couldn’t done a silk press. Now her hair has no body to it smh.
Relaxed or Natural , beautiful regardless ✊❤
It’s only hair!
No treatment after hair relaxer and no hair trim?
I’m sorry but her hair was not straight at all after that relaxer smh
You can have Healthy Relaxed hair. Just fine professional hairstylist that specializes in hair care and not just styling
Why
Its her hair her choice I just wouldn’t have settled for that kitchen perm style job, I cant do flat hair , when I had a perm I would try to fluff it up cause its all sticking to my head but seriously She could have put a bump on the ends at least …
The stylist was rough as hell and she over processed her hair the lady said she used 4 boxes of perm smh
Stop apologizing! You do what is good for you.
I just want to point out some inconsistencies in this thread.
1. There is no difference between a “boxed”perm and a “professional” perm used by stylist. It’s literally the same thing in a different quantity
2. Her hair being thin had little to do with relaxing and more so with the fact it was already damaged due to breakage and being brittle
3. Hair is different!!! being natural doesn’t equate to healthy thick hair as much as relaxed doesn’t equate to thin and brittle hair…this is determined by biology
4. I’ve been relaxed and natural and relaxed works best for me and my hair is thick and healthy
5. Yall crazy
Well said
Girl, I admire your courage. This life is short to keep caring what others think! So long as you are happy with your hair, others can go ahead and do what pleases them. Walk shoulder high! It’s your head, it’s your hair and you are unique. No one will be you. Hugs
Relaxers have been proven to be so bad for your health, it’s not just about your hair.
I’m not getting why natural hair is a lot of work.
I wash mine and not everyday. I put in leave in conditioner and top off with an oil for sheen. I comb through with my fingers daily and comb out once or twice a week. It’s not much work or time consuming. I braid it twice a month
It’s a curly fro it feels good and I feel the individual curls running my fingers through it. Feather the ends occasionally.
I love my natural hair.
All I can say before any sister goes back to the” creamy crack” give the E’tae product a try!! Whey better for our hair, easier to manage while still keeping more Natural like qualities of hair. Kinda of like the best of both without the damage and burning.
I will never perm my hair agian sorry but not sorry its a personal choice theres so much u can do an not worry about the damage from those chemicals
Her natural hair was so beautiful. I’ve been natural for years and I agree, it can be challenging. But man…my hair never grew and was always brittle with a relaxer. And I only relaxed once, maybe twice a year. To each her own.
I mean, I’m not knocking you for getting a relaxer. I’ve been considering it myself. But if you gonna do that, at least make sure it looks good. That shit is a mess. Why you let that woman ruin your hair like that? You literally left the salon looking like you been sleeping without a bonnet for a week. Doesn’t look fresh at all nor does it look healthy. Id rather walk around with “unhealthy” but decent looking natural hair than damaged relaxed hair. You’re a better woman than me chile
Its funny I been natural for 6 may be 7 yrs and to me some relaxed hair looks thin even if a person has thick hair like I do.. I hope I can keep going with staying natural.✊✊
Being natural is also a healthy choice of not using cancerous chemicals on your scalp
Her makeup is super cute. I’m trying to understand why her fro hair looked healthy, but that perm hair looked damaged. I’ve watched other natural to relaxed videos where the results came out much better.
Who knows I was more focused on her saying that it hurt probably be like getting a virgin perm
I thought she was brave, it’s not easy to use chemicals in your hair after six years of no chemical usage.
Do what works for you I haven’t relaxed my hair in six years but my hair grade doesn’t need it, so I’ll never relax my hair again, women can do what they want with their hair so you do what you want with your hair
Oops! Mistake!!!
I’m not knocking your choices.. no one in this world should tell you how to wear your hair or anything for that matter. I have been natural since 2013 and it is a journey.. but I love the journey and will continue on this journey.. I just have no desire for a perm.. that’s just me. I personally loved your natural hair but to each is own and your hair is your prerogative and no one elses.. so don’t feel bad or let people make u feel bad about the decisions you make for your life . I would like to say that with my sister being a beautician, she used to do my relaxers and there is a technique to applying to prevent over or under processing and I saw her doing everything wrong. My sister never applied relaxer to all of my hair including the ends.. just the new growth and worked it in.. once u rinse out.. it get all over.. with that being said.. please find a new stylist if you continue to get relaxers.
She’s a beautiful girl but the relaxer or straightened look seemed to have taken away from it. She is absolutely gorgeous with natural hair.
I agree that stylist not stylist did a horrible job. I did a better job when I was 12 and permed my older sister hair. It didn’t look like it took that well either. And her stylist not stylist had a grimace look on her face while combing it.
Do you, we are not the ones that have to take the time out to style it. I am considering this heck I did a few years ago. Alas the relaxer did not take. lol
Why?
.Love her description from the video:) SELF LOVE “I’m sorry to everyone who feels disappointed. I am not my hair. And will I disable the comments? Hell no! It’s opening my eyes to see the monsters in the so called “community” who hide behind “self love” while attacking another because their representation is different. “❤️
6 years and that’s all the length she has gotten she doesn’t know how to care for her own hair ♀️
I went through a similar experience. I went natural for almost 2 years (I did it previously as well) and I chose to relax my hair because it didn’t retain moisture at all and it kept breaking. I have 4c COURSE hair and A very sensitive scalp so if I found a balance for moisture retention, it was too much for my scalp and it was itchy all the time from product build up. Apple cider vinegar rinses would work for a short while but then it would strip my hair a little. It was a frustrating battle with my hair and sometimes you have to do what is best. I loved my natural hair but it took a lot of time, trial and error and BREAKAGE for me to go back to relaxing. I still use a lot of the methods I learned and the products. At the end of the day you have to do what is best for you.
The hair stylist did a horrible job!
You forgot beauty is pain…????
There will be major breakage be mindful of that. I been natural well over a decade and I will never go back to a perm.
It all depend , n natural hair breaks more base in the fact it’s so hard to comb out, I know I’m a natural girl.
ShellyAnn Yates true
Hurt? Chile I get relaxers and it never hurts. That stylist clearly don’t know what she doing
Melissa L Jones I’ve been natural for 3 years and I agree with you when I did get relaxers they never hurt I wish people stop saying that
Gwendolyn Carter …how can you compare what you feel to what someone else feels? Everyone is different and so is their sensitivity to the chemicals in the perm. If she scratched her scalp prior to getting the perm and she has some open wounds of course it will burn
i agree been natural for about 4 years now and when I used to get relaxers it burned every time that’s one of the major reasons I transitioned
Why would you get a perm if you’ve scratched your head or taken a protective styling out when you have irritated your scalp plus if your so sensitive why put yourself through that anyways
Suzette Hinds-Riddick then why would you put yourself through that pain when you know you have already irritated your scalp to the point you already know it’s going to burn ????????
My cousin was in pain when she was getting a relaxer. She didnt scratch or have her hair styled in anyway that would cause the pain, she also based her scalp to help prevent it and nothing helped/worked. He scalp was just that sensitive…. even with using a mild/childs relaxer. She couldnt even get through her entire head before she started feeling discomfort.
Gwendolyn Carter …because people are human and sometimes they scratch their scalps when it itches….duh????????♀️
I relax my own hair because my natural hair is too hard to manage…I don’t like braids or weaves so yeah I’m going to keep relaxing…I never relax my hair real straight it retains its texture just straighter and softens it plus easier to style…
Exactly Gwendolyn!!!????????????????????????
☹️… her hair is stiff…
Quennie Dixon looks like she put too much grease in it!! ????????
Relaxers do not grow hair. They cause breakage, hair thinning over time, and even Alopecia. It’s her hair, and her journey. It’s something that I could never see MYSELF returning to. It’s so much psychological damage black women face as some women attempt to conform to the European standards of beauty. What this woman failed to realize, is that hair growth is not only determined by how we care for our hair, our diets, but largely on genetics. Maybe it’s just her hair grows slow, and so what if it’s short, as long as it’s healthy, natural, and chemical-free. As damaging as heat straightening the hair is, I would rather resort to that before I apply chemicals.
If it has lye in it gonna be on ????
She needs another stylist
To me this is what happens when you “going natural” for all the wrong reasons. I don’t watch her channel, but from the sounds of it she thought she could be her own stylist all from some YouTube videos.???? Note there is a huge difference from managing your hair at home and thinking you can diy everything. Everyone should have a professional stylist. Even your stylist needs a stylist at least some of the time. So sis went and found some random salon stylist to throw a relaxer in her hair. Note again that not all pros are good at what they do nor do they all care about the integrity of the hair. That stylists whole process of putting that relaxer in was terrible. Now you looking stupid walking out the salon with stiff ass, “straight” hair.????????????♀️
Amen Ashley!!!????????????????
I dont agree. I’ve been my own stylist since I went natural 6 years ago.
