Like it or not, the big V-Day is right around the corner and whether you decide to just kick it with your girls or get cozy with your boo having the right hairstyle will make all the difference.
Without delving too deep into the idiosyncrasies of the holiday, valentines day should be about having fun and enjoying life, its the perfect excuse to get down right flirty and sexy without feeling the least bit weird.
Last year the hubs and I got super serious, and did the formal dinner date thing, I wore a neat high bun with conservative earrings, he wore a tie. This year we want to do something entirely opposite and for my hair I want to wear an messy chic style that doesn’t look too put together.
Here are a few valentines day hairstyles you can try this year as you celebrate love the easy way.
The base of each style will be a twist and curl, here is how it is achieved:
1. Start out with hair that is stretched, an old twist out, braid out or blow out.
2. In sections apply your favorite moisturizer and gel and start twisting. At the end of each twist add a perm rod, roll the rod half way up the section to ensure that you will get a good curl.
3. After creating the twists, cover with a satin bonnet and allow the hair to dry over night or all day.
4. Once dry, release each twist carefully to prevent frizz, and now its time to style.
Hairstyle 1 – The No Band Messy Bun with Side Swept Bangs
To achieve this style all you need is hair pins, nothing else. Section out your bangs and put them away while you work on your messy bun. Separate your curls enough to create a chunky bun with a little bit of character. Gather the hair towards the center of your head and twist the entire portion until it folds unto itself pinning as you go along. Notice we are not using any pony tail holders because we want it to look a little untamed with a few fly aways.
