#Scenario – You are supposed to go grocery shopping, but find yourself checking out and spending your grocery money on hair products you don’t need. We love to check out what’s new, try new products, and give product reviews for others. So yes, I will surely admit that I tend to overspend on products I don’t even need and I’m not at all disciplined about using up products I already have before purchasing new one.
Now, some stores (like Target) will take your products back that you have no use for. While other stores, will not take the product back unless it is in the original packaging. All this buying and hoarding will lead to a closet/bin/dresser full of unnecessary products taking up space. The worst thing to do will be to throw your products in the garbage and waste money. So instead of worrying about what to do with products that you will never use, do a product swap!
What Is A Product Swap?
A product swap is giving unwanted/unneeded products by exchanging a product with someone. This can be an informal swap, by exchanging products with your friends and family.
This is can also be a formal swap, by going to events that manage product swaps and may have giveaways as well. The best possibilities about a product swap (either informal or formal) is getting rid of products you don’t use/don’t like, receiving products you will love to use, and make new friends as well.
How to get the best out of a product swap:
Bring Products That Don’t Work For You
When you use your specific product, does your hair still look and feel dry? Look at the ingredients on the product label to be sure the ingredients work for your hair.
I used a product that I wanted to like, but just didn’t work for me no matter how I used it. I found that Argan Oil is one of the ingredients and my hair does not like that oil! If you have tried your product over and over again, that would be a product to surely add to your product swap bin.
Decide On What Products You Are Need/Want To Try
A healthy hair regimen consists of: shampoo, conditioner, leave-in moisturizer, sealant, and styler. Learning and knowing your hair is a big part of being on a healthy hair journey.
There are numerous tests you can do on your hair (porosity, density, texture, moisture/protein balance, etc.) to learn what “kind” of hair you have and how to successfully take care of your hair. Does your hair need moisture? Is your scalp always dry? Do your stylers leave your hair greasy? If your products don’t give your hair the “wants” and “needs,” then it’s time to give that product away.
