Let’s face it sometimes we want to pull our hair out of our faces or just find a cute protective style ; Or we might be in certain situations where we want to tone down the ‘fro’ and wear something a bit conservative.
Buns can be a quick, easy, and elegant style and they are appropriate for almost any occasion but our hair doesn’t always cooperate because it may not be long or thick enough to give the fullness we desire for our buns.
A common solution is to go out and buy a donut bun*, because they come in different sizes and colors, but they may not be totally cost effective. There is a simpler solution though, allow me to introduce the Sock Bun.
There are a couple of reasons why sock buns are a great alternatives to the ones you can purchase in the store. For one, making a sock bun doesn’t require any money, and two it takes all of 5 minutes, and most importantly, everything you need is already in the house.
Things Needed to Create/Use a Sock Bun:
►1 Sock (it’s best to choose a sock similar to your own hair color, ex. black)
►Scissors
►Bobby/Hair Pins
►Scrunchies
Simply cut along the seam at the top of the sock, roll the sock until it becomes a cuff then gather your hair into a ponytail and secure with a scrunchie. Place the sock onto the ponytail and cover it with hair, use a brush to make sure the sock is undetectable then put another scrunchie over the entire style and secure with hairpins to prevent flyaways.
The sock bun instantly creates a fuller look for those who may have thin hair. It’s a great styling tool for those who may be transitioning, because it’s easy to blend the two hair textures while simultaneously keeping hair up and away from damage. The sock bun can be worn for almost any reason and at any time, and it’s super easy to preserve every night.
