It takes practice not only to achieve the perfect Wash and Go, but to also maintain it for long stretches of time. While some of us prefer to have a little frizz and volume with our Wash n Go’s, we may want to preserve them for more than just two days without looking like a lion.
It’s also annoying trying to sleep in ONE exact spot on the bed so we don’t get our hair messed up. In the video, we will see how to get defined and voluminous curls, along with tips on how to maintain the ‘Fro for almost two weeks.
What You Need:
Styling Gel.
Light or Medium hold styling aide (like Shea Moisture* Curl Enhancing Smoothie).
Comb or Denman brush*.
Old Satin Scarf.
Small Spray Bottle.
In the video, she makes sure that her first day Wash and Go curls are defined by using the Curl Enhancing Smoothie and styling gel, along with a fine tooth comb.
She separated her hair into small sections, applied both stylers to each section, then combed the length of the hair. This of course detangles hair and adds more definition. This step can be done with either a comb or Denman brush*. She lets the hair air dry throughout the course of the day, and this leads to a voluminous and soft Wash and Go.
The style can last up to two weeks by banding at night. Take a pair of scissors and cut the scarf into smaller strips. Combine a finger scoop of your styling aid with water in a small spray bottle.
Spray this mixture into your hair at night before wrapping small sections of hair with the strips of scarf. Lightly mist the ends of your hair again in the morning to keep hair moisturized without it shrinking back up.
Banding will stretch the style out, and your ‘Fro will get bigger each day without losing any curl definition. This will eliminate the need to constantly wash your hair to ‘refresh’ the Wash and Go, and you can make sure your hair remains moisturized.
