Although most of us curly girls love rocking our fros, sometimes we may want to switch it up and wear our hair straight. We just might decide to wear straight hair extensions* as a way to achieve the look without picking up a flat iron* because extensions* can be a great protective style.
However, full wigs or weaves that look realistic may be expensive or super hard to find. Having leave out makes the style look more natural than it would have otherwise.
The problem then becomes how to blend our kinks and coils with the straight extensions. Constantly using a flat iron* to blend the two textures will lead to heat damage, defeating the purpose of a protective style. Is there another solution?
Believe it or not, there is, it is possible to blend natural hair with straight extensions* without having to use any heat. Only a few items are needed for this look:
►2-3 Rollers (depending on the how much leave out there is). Opt for the rollers with small holes in them, so that the style dries faster
►Styler of choice
►Gel of choice
►Comb (to part)
►Denman brush*/ Tangle Teaser (to detangle and make sure hair is smooth)
►Clips (to separate the sections)
►Brush
This style is done on wet hair and when trying this no heat method, it’s important to make sure that the hair will be soft and lay flat. The Denman brush* ensures that all of the knots and tangles are taken out of the hair. Make sure that hair lays flat and smooth against the roller once it’s been rolled, then leave the rollers and hair to air dry for a few hours, maybe even overnight.
Although this styling method won’t give the bone straight look that a flat iron would, it’s a much healthier alternative for your hair. There’s no heat involved, it’s easy, and hair will still look full and beautiful.
