So y’all, I was going on my daily commute just minding my own business, until I saw this gorgeous lady with one of the most beautiful loc buns that I have ever seen. It was full, lustrous, and everything I would want if I were loced. I’ve always thought that locs of all sizes were beautiful and when they are put up into beautiful buns; oh my goodness, talk about gorgeous!
Because of this beautiful loc’d lady, I was inspired by this lady to share this style tutorial article with you guys today. Below, we have 3 gorgeous loc bun tutorials to share, from short locs to long:
1. High Bun for Short Locs

I know how frustrating it can be sometimes when you have short hair and want to rock a bun. Here, we have a different take on doing a high bun with short locs.
Products Used to Achieve This Style
Moisturizer- H2O works perfectly as a moisturizer or you can be fancy and make a yummy hair spritz. A bit of tea tree oil*, glycerin, and rosewater added to H2o makes a refreshing and moisturizing spritz.
Gel- ORS Olive Oil* Edge Control is a great gel for smoothing edges, but you can use any gel that you prefer.
Hair Elastics- To put locs into a ponytail to create a foundation for your bun.
Hair Donut– To create bun base.
Hair Length Needed to Achieve This Style
The hairstyle is great for those with neck length locs and longer. Naturals who are loose can also achieve this style while wearing twists or braids as well.
How To Achieve This Style
To achieve this hair style, place your locs into a ponytail and split into two sections. Then, place the hair donut over the base of the ponytail and pull the locs through the donut. Once the hair donut is in position, pull the elastic that you used to create the ponytail through the donut. Once you have done this, pull the locs over the donut and tuck them under.
This will create the bun shape. Take the elastic that you used to make the ponytail from earlier and put it over the donut bun* to secure everything into place. There you have it! A beautiful high bun for short locs.
