If you watched Black Girls Rock last night then you must agree with me that the show was pretty awesome. It felt like all your home girls gathered together in one place celebrating themselves through music and culture. Ofcourse we had to capture the hair moments of the show but before we do that can we talk about some of the highlights?
For instance Jasmine Sullivan and her diverse dancers:
Jasmine did her rendition of Mona Lisa and it brought the house down!
Then there was Tracee Ellis Ross who opened the show doing a rendition from every dope black girl she knows including her own mom Diana Ross, Queen Latifah, Rihanna and Beyonce. Her wig(affiliate link) changing game was on point!
And then there was Amandla, in her speech she touched on black women and girls being beautiful and intelligent as the precursor to why Black Girls Rock
“My blackness does not inhibit me from being beautiful and intelligent, In fact, it is the reason I am beautiful and intelligent. And you can not stop me.”
And Rihanna who said that being yourself is half the battle:
“The minute you learn to love yourself, you would not want to be anyone else.”
Check out the rest of the hair moments in the below gallery:
- Amandla Stenberg wore a simple style with her edges laid and dark curls poppin!
- Corinne Baily Rae's hair was in a twist out and looked longer since her 2006 debut.
- Danai Gurira rocked her shaped TWA with perfection. One of our favorite looks of the night.
