I know, I know, I know, yet another method of doing something for our natural hair, and we are practically drowning in acronyms already! Well this was all inspired by LHDC-TV on YouTube, she coined the phrase so don’t kill me!
LOG stands for Liquid Oil Gel, and its just a cute way of remembering how she is currently doing her wash and go’s, and quite frankly its kinda cool too!
We loved how dope her wash and go looked at the end of her process but most importantly, it looked so shiny and according to the video she is able to keep her hair moisturized throughout the week using the method.
The difference is that she added an extra step after her co wash but before applying gel. After her hair was detangled, she sealed each section with oil and twisted it up.
She then proceeded to spray the section with water before covering with a plastic cap and sitting under the dryer for 20 minutes then proceeding to apply the gel in sections. Basically it sounds like a cross between an oil rinse and a hot oil treatment on steroids!
In any case the oil/water/hooded dryer* combo seems to create an excellent seal keeping her hair hydrated as well as giving her final look that shiny finish. Inspired!
How many times have you done a wash and go only to have it dry out by day three and have to step in the shower to repeat the process? Most of us like the fullness of a wash and go but would like to at least have it last for five days, 7 if we are lucky.
There are many ways to keep your wash and go for more than the typical 3 days, we have a few suggestions in addition to the one provided in the video.
1. Deep condition and seal well – When you do a wash and go it is important to have a great foundation, so if you plan to wear one for the week, deep condition your hair with something moisture based, condition and seal your hair and then style it at the end.
2. Do not touch as it dries – When your hair is drying keep your hands in your pockets! Manipulation only leads to frizzies and actually disturbs the products that you have applied. Just allow your hair to dry and fluff itself naturally. First day hair is always less fun anyway!
3. Use a great refresher – On the days that you need a lil sumthin sumthin, have your spray ready, choose something that is very moisturizing but doesn’t drench your hair and disturbing your curls, aloe vera juice* for instance. If you deep conditioned well, there is no need to use a ton of product throughout the week

The LOG method might just work for you, everything is always worth at least one try, so give it a shot.

Wash in go’s don’t work on nappy hair. Wash n go’s don’t workout on my 4c natural hair. -Glamfun

Yes they do. TWA for me

I guess I am the exception along with lot and lots of other girls like myself I have no idea what this girl in the video is doing but you wont achieve nothing good using that method.

@Allison Thompson Wash and go does work for 4c hair but you just have to figure out what works for u. I cut my Sisterlocks in October and I’ve been doing wash and go on my TWA since then. What I’ve learn’t is: you need to know the porosity level of your hair as that determine the moisture level of your hair. My hair is low porosity. I must deep condition/moisture treatments with a heating cap. For my wash and go I spritz my hair damp, not wet with distilled water, apply a leave-in (if freshly washed), apply a mixture of olive oil, sweet almond, maybe glycerine, next apply a mix of cantu coconut curling cream and the curl defining gel and finish with carefree gold activator gel( same one usually used for jheri curls) that it. I do it first thing in the morning and by the time I’m ready for work it’s almost dry.

So that’s it….LOG. I often wondered why when I would try wash n go’s on my 4c hair It would have this white build up…it’s because I would do LOC method then add gel….ok, I got it now.
Dede Spencer says
wash and go’s works perfectly on my 4c natural hair, its one of my favorite methods.
Dede Spencer says
You don’t have to have a certain type of hair to achieve great results I thought I had the worse type of hair because it is 4c course, but I am having a ball with my natural hair its quite beautiful and almost all of these methods work for me : )
Sarah Adaure W. Obi says
No way!!! wash and go do not work on 4c hair, unless you want to go out looking like a black widow 🙂
Dede Spencer says
Speak for yourself, it works for me with my 4c hair, I’m sorry it doesn’t work for you.

Ja'Torien Jones says
I used this method way before going natural to do ponytails, bantu knots, & two strand twist on my relaxed hair.
Allison Thompson says
Caramel, Dede Spencer, and April it is a parody song, you guys are to serious. It’s a joke, and what she is doing is not a wash n go. She sits under a bonnet dryer. You’re supposed to be able to leave with wet hair.
Dede Spencer says
your supposed to let your hair dry first, if you leave it wet it wont work, didn’t you watch the video?
Journey to Waist Length says
One of her best videos
Morgan Nimmz says
@Allison Thompson not necessarily. I’ve seen plenty of tutorials for wash and go’s and they use a blowdryer with a diffuser. No one wants to go out with soaking wet hair
Allison Thompson says
Morgan Nimmz maybe I’m too literal. Wash n go means wash n go to me.
Sharon Holloway says
A wash n go means u do just that…wash n go…none of that in between manipulating.
Sharon Holloway says
Of course u may wanna “shake” head to remove excess water from hair…I guess then it’d be a shake n go.
Kelly Ellsberry says
Very nice

Whether or not this works depends on your hair’s porosity, how it responds to products & whether it’s fine, medium or coarse. As for me, instead of going thru all that with a dryer I just use KinkyCurly shampoo, Knot Today ( as is or the Kimmaytube version), curling custard then shake & go. I can get it done in 10-15″ & have a head full of little penspring curls. My hairtype is fine, 4a/b.

Hey I’m gonna try. But I would like to skip the dryer part. I haven’t used heat (except with a cap for deep cond) in years. Wash and go means just that to me as well. Wash and roll outta the house!
ShaeDB says
I love the look! I have kept my twa short for three years because my APL natural hair was a lot of work (yes, I am a lazy natural). My hair holds water and takes forever to dry. Why are there so many different interpretations of wash n go?I thought it was wash (co, no poo, etc) and product(s) and go.
NubianPrize says
This is not exactly a wash & go. Too many steps involved. She sat under dryer for 20 ” TWICE. That’s 40″. I have 4ab tight coily curls & she’s in the type 3 category. I wash my hair, use Knot Today leave in or Kimmaytube’s mix, comb thru then apply Kinky Curly Custard section by section. Then I spray with more water if needed, whip my hair back & forth, and I’m out the door in 15 – 20″ while with her method I’d be sitting under the dryer, which i don’t like to do. Still, it’s something I might try some day. Always good to know different methods.

Wow. We use the same leave in Tresemme Naturals. :). Then I use oil but I go straight to the gel. Maybe I will try this method.
