There have been moments in my hair journey where my hair has been exceptionally dry and it felt as if no matter how much I sprayed it with water, or what I put on it, it would get worse and worse.
There will be moments in your hair journey as well when you just cannot figure out what to do and you will feel a bit defeated and hopeless. I have been there!
The solution to those moments isn’t simple and when I tell you what I did, you will probably think I am crazy. My thought process was that my hair needed a reset I needed to do everything to it that I knew would help it with every ailment that would come up in that one moment. Let me explain!
For me, it was not about a one-time deep condition and then hope for the best, or just a co-wash or any sort of single treatment, I had to do everything!
I scheduled a 4 hour window with my hair and I did everything I knew would reset it, I clarified my hair and made sure my scalp was clean, I deep conditioned to replace moisture, I did a serious trim to get rid of all dry ends, knots, and tangles and finally I did a protective style for a week using the LOC method for extra moisture.
My choice of protective style was simply two strand twists using just my hair without any added hair just to give my hair a chance to rest.
The results were, a clean scalp free of any buildup, moisturized strands with my focus on deep conditioning* and the LOC method and blunt ends for a great trim. My twists remained soft the entire time and when I released the twists my hair was back to normal and most of all still moisturized.
If I were to identify any sort of negative it would be the fact that I lost an inch or two off my ends but honestly they needed to go, it was like releasing one inch of stress!
To answer the question on what to do when your hair is under distress, pamper it with everything you got! How do you handle distressed hair?

Can someone please recommend a good heat cap brand?

I’ve been using the Hair Therapy heat wrap for a year and it works wonders for my high porosity and my mother’s low porosity hair. I took the packs out to wash it a couple of weeks ago and lost one of them, so i’ll be going back to Amazon for another.

I have one but can’t remember the name, it also has gel packs that can be microwaved and put back inside of the cap. Google “heat caps” or conditioning caps.
