Imagine this scenario: You send your daughter to school and she comes home with her braid in an envelope and there is no explanation.
Shantal Wallen the mother of a two year old braided her daughter Malaya’s hair like most moms would and had her attend school for the day.
Erdington’s Little Ripley Nursery in the UK, called Shantal and explained to her that her daughter was missing one of the 12 braids that was placed in the child’s hair and they had no idea how it happened.
What is so strange about this story is that every inch of the braid was gone, not even a little piece of the braid remained in the child’s head. How crazy would it be for you to just see a bald spot in your child’s head with no explanation as to how it happened.
Shantal and partner Jahzeel Davis have contacted education watchdogs Ofsted UK and had a face-to-face meeting with nursery bosses. When I found out, I was really worried that someone had tampered with my daughter’s hair.
The hair is not easy to pull out, yet it has been removed so cleanly. It’s almost as if it has been waxed.
The only way it would have dropped out is if Malaya had a medical condition and even if she did, it would come out in patches. I’ve been to the doctors, and there’s nothing wrong with Malaya.
As you can imagine Shantal decided to remove the child from the nursery and a nursery spokesman has made no comment on the incident.
This is highly confidential and there will be no comment.
Procedure has been followed and everything is complete. That is all I can say.
Hopefully we can hear more about this case, I am fresh out of ideas on how the braid could have just fallen out, I can understand if it were cut out but without any hair left on her scalp where the braid was, it is just pretty darn strange.
Weigh in, what do you think happened to Malaya’s braid?
Smith says
During summer camp, one of my students her age was sitting in a chair incorrectly and as she attempted to right herself, her braid got caught and ripped from her head the same way leaving a bald spot. I had to call her mom but luckily, I and other kids witnessed it. That was five years ago and that spot has filled in nicely.

If it didn’t get caught on something, then someone pulled it out. Plain and simple.
Lesley says
outside of the medical condition I have no clue. This happened to my son also when he was a toddler. I got an explanation but as the story progressed more and more people appeared in the room. So I said if there was all these people were in the room why did the incident happen.
