“Nooooooo dont do iiiit!” in my Kevin Hart voice, is probably what I would have told Kelly Rowland when I discovered what the real reason behind that cute sexy bob was. You have seen it right? Its just a classic sleek bob, nothing crazy but seriously adorable on her. So what made Kelly cut her hair?
Let me allow Kelly to tell you
I wanted to experiment and color my own hair. That was one of the biggest mistakes of my life. I thought it was semi-permanent color. It was permanent color,” the songstress explained. “I was packing up to leave for a red eye flight, and I thought that I’d have enough time to rinse it out cause I’ve kept semi-permanent color on long before. My hair had grown down to like right where my shoulder hits, it was nice and healthy and thick. I went and reached for the back of my hair and it was all in my hand! So I went to my stylist the next day and said, ‘So, my hair’s broken off, I need you to fix it.’ He was like, ‘How did this happen?’ and then he cut all my hair off and it just turned out really cute.
Kelly shared the above in a recent interview with People magazine. We kind of naively expect that celebrities are not subject to the damage of self coloring or anything of that nature, because they have access to some of the best stylists around.
Well go figure, they do the same crazy stuff that we do! In her case she left the permanent color in for 2 hours which is way too long for any kind of chemical job. Her hair did not stand a chance. Anyway no judgement here, many of us have been there, running to Walgreens grabbing a cute color in the name of “I just need a change” on a whim.
It just goes to show how dangerous playing with color can be if you have no idea what you are doing. Anyhoo its ok Kelly the bob is still totally cute! Have any of you ever had a bad experience with box color?

Yes! I went red and it tore up my hair! I had to double big chop? I will never dye my hair again!

I’ve done it b4 and my hair broke off. It was already cut short, so I had it cut shorter, which as fine with me:)

Luckily no! And I’ve dyed my hair many different colours which included bleaching. Now I just use a water base colour rinse as I’m sure one day I would have run out of luck and damaged my hair colouring it.
Lozette Clemons says
Yes yes yes, the worst one was Bright magenta pink, I had to rock a mullet for months due to the breakage. It required bleaching then dye.
nappy headed black girl says
I’ve seen this sooo many times. You think someone changed up their style and really they had to chop because of damage.
I’m not too fond of this look on hair. I don’t care for the way it frames her face.

Yes, went to a professional shop. She used permanant color and did not rinse out all the color. I found out 2 weeks post color. My hair is still thin in the mid section from this professional stylist mistake. I have tried everything to help it to grow back in that area. It’s been 3 yrs.6 months.
